We’ve had a few things come together at once, which has caused a revamp and revitalization of the Hoosier EVA chapter. Here’s a quick update.

- A participant in Bloomington’s Remote Worker program from Amplify Bloomington, recently relocated to the city. Paul Bordenkircher had previously been President of the Nevada EVA. With his previous interest in electric vehicles and his experience leading a chapter, Paul looked into joining the group and getting involved in activities.
- Bloomington and Monroe County have a history of actiity surrounding electrifying vehicles. Nearly half of city buses are electric, and electric Bird scooters are available to get around, especially in downtown and along the B Trail.
- This summer, the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County started a new grant program, which turned out to be an excellent fit for revitalizing the chapter. An application was submitted in August. Due to the grant being specific to the Monroe County area, the decision was made to move the chapter headquarters to Bloomington – at least for now.
- Our leadership held a vote and elected Paul as President of the Hoosier EVA.
- Paul has already been working hard to connect our chapter to the community groups and leadership in the area to work together on the goals of Education, Visibility, and Advocacy for electrification of transportation.
What can you do to help?
- Spread the word! Let everyone know Hoosier EVA is back in action!
- Engage on our newly-formed social media channels.
- Come to our events! We’ll have our first online meeting in September. Join online, or come see us in Bloomington! We also have our first public event on October 10. See our home page for more details.
- Join Hoosier EVA. It costs as little as $55 a year. There are family discounts and business opportunities as well.
- Donate to Hoosier EVA! All funds go directly to our chapter for our work.
We’re excited for what’s coming! We hope to have more news as we learn if our grant application is accepted. And our efforts are not expected to stop at Monroe County. We are working with current members in Indianapolis to continue building on our previous efforts of Ride and Drives and other public-facing events.
Thank you for all your support!
